The bell stone is located above the Wurmbach valley in Stecklenberg.
The granite block, whose shape reminds of a bell, was probably an ancient Germanic place of worship in prehistoric times. According to legend, the bellstone sounds like a bell during the Walpurgis Night, thus showing the witches the way to the Brocken.

On June 3rd, 2020 the bell stone was still surrounded by trees. With horror, we had to discover (through pictures of a hiking group at FB) that there were hardly any trees in September 2020 and now only one tree is on the bell stone.
We hope that it will look different again in the future.
