A museum worth seeing about the "labor camp" of Chão Bom and the dark past of the Portuguese colonial period associated with it.
The Portuguese concentration camp was also unofficially called "Campo da morte lenta - camp of slow death".
You should plan on about 2 hours for a visit, the entrance fee is 200CVE and is well worth it.

Hiking

Museum of the Portuguese fascist concentration camp. Over 500 political opponents of the Salazar regime were imprisoned here between 1936 and 1974, and 32 people died. While initially it was mainly Portuguese people who were interned, after the start of the colonial wars it was mainly political opponents from Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and Angola who were interned.
