The Altkönig is worth a trip in every season.
There is no real "summit" but a large plateau with many trees and shrubs and also meadow sections.
A very nice place to switch off, to rest before you continue hiking.
In addition, really great views of the Great Feldberg and also on Königstein with its castle ruins.

Great highlight in the Taunus, it's not a peak as one might expect but rather a large plateau. It offers a view towards Großer Feldberg on the NW side and Kronberg/Königstein on the southern side.
Very popular for mountain biking and as a hiking highlight.

The Altkönig is 798.2 m above sea level. NHN the third highest mountain in the Taunus. With its summit location in the urban area of Kronberg im Taunus, it is close to the Falkenstein district of Königstein im Taunus in the Hessian Hochtaunus district. Wikipedia

The Altkönig is rather inconspicuous as a summit, which makes up a large part of the charm. No restaurant, no observation tower, but historically significant ramparts from the Celtic times. For hikers close to nature, one of the most beautiful mountains in the area.
