Mountain Biking Highlight
The Große Feldberg is not only the highest peak of the Taunus, but of the entire Rhenish Slate Mountains. The information about its exact height varies between 879 and 881 meters. The summit is extremely popular with day trippers from the Rhine-Main plain. Not only motorcyclists, racing cyclists and mountain bikers meet here on weekends, but also many motorists. It can get really crowded at peak times. Fortunately, the summit plateau is quite large. In addition to the television tower and transmission mast of the Hessian Broadcasting Corporation, there is a restaurant, two kiosks, a hiking home with an observation tower and a falconry. The most beautiful view is from the Brunhildis rock on the northern edge of the plateau. Various hiking trails lead over the summit. After all, the Taunus Club was founded up here and even Goethe liked to hike in the Taunus. There are plenty of trails for mountain bikers, including the official flow trail over the Fuchstanz to Hohemark. Racing cyclists particularly appreciate the twelve-kilometer ascent from Oberursel because of its length. The road from Schmitten is less busy, but also offers fewer vertical meters in one go. The Feldberg is by far not the most beautiful peak in the Taunus, but is definitely part of a tour in the Taunus because of its height and easy accessibility.

Regardless of the season, our large Feldberg always has something to offer: in summer this region is the purest hiking and cycling paradise, in winter it is the highest
Ascent of the Taunus numerous tobogganers and winter hikers.
In good weather there are great views in all directions up there! It's best to stop in the restaurant for refreshment, they have great dishes there, and you have to allow for a little waiting time at peak times.
In a pinch there is still a kiosk / snack outside where you can get passable sausage, etc. :-)
Parking spaces and even public transport available.
Great Feldberg again and again with pleasure!

Yes, the Feldberg. On the summit there are all sorts of beautiful things, even if it looks a bit sad at first glance. There is a restaurant which opens at 11:00 and a kiosk which opens at 10:30 with coffee / cocoa and even hot sausage with mustard. The view is incredibly beautiful on nice days. There is a rocky plain in one place which is very suitable for photos. But you'll find that out best yourself.

The last climb requires strength and skill and separates chaff and wheat :-) Here many descend. Above are great views, especially on Brunhildisfelsen and the tower. Inn offers good food and nice, uncomplicated ambience. Nice terrace with a magnificent view. The falconry is very worth seeing!

Sometimes it's extremely windy up here, outside the summer a windbreaker is useful. A great starting point for tours on the Feldberg is from the south, the Hohemark with the information center and the restaurant Waldtraut or from the east and the Saalburg. Beautiful and well-known destinations on the Feldberg are the Red Cross, the Sandplacken, the Herzberg, the Fuchstanz (Biker meeting point No.1) and of course the Feldberg summit (the last trail ascent is VERY steep) with a kiosk and a restaurant.

The highest mountain in the Taunus is a popular destination. Numerous hiking trails and trails and a paved road lead to the summit. On the top you can expect a plateau with great views, especially to the north, the two towers, of which the large is visible from far, a kiosk, a restaurant and a falconry. In winter, there are plenty of opportunities for skiing on the Feldberg with enough snow, but they are very limited. For sledding, however, there are u.a. a fast long descent to Hohemark.

Currently the absolute negative highlight on the Großer Feldberg!
In March 2019, the successful restaurant was closed by the Feldberghof association and given to a new operator.
The building has been rotting here for over 2 years, renovation work is not progressing or is only progressing slowly ... 😱
