The Steinhuder Meer-Bahn e. V. has been looking after the preservation of historic vehicles and the history of the Steinhuder Meer-Bahn since 2001.
Since 2015, the Steinhuder Meer-Bahn open-air museum has been located in Steinhude, at Trift 2.
