The moorland adventure trail, with interesting information opportunities (adventure walkway, viewing point, water lily pond, renaturation), is always worth a trip. As early as 900 AD, people were taking peat from the moors using the hand-cutting method. In the 17th and 18th centuries, moors were cultivated to create agricultural land. Drainage was a prerequisite. Deep ditches and drains were created for this purpose. In the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park, very successful measures to regenerate raised bogs have been carried out for years (only possible through rewetting).

Very heavy bicycle traffic in the summer months! Better suited for hiking and bird watching in autumn and spring.
