The Hagenburg Canal was artificially created in the 1760s. From here, building materials for the fill-up of Wilhelmstein Island and fortress construction on boats could be transported directly. After a length of 1.2 km, it flows directly into the Steinhuder Meer. Hagenburg Castle is at the end of the canal.
