The Suomenlinna ferry carries passengers to the islands off Helsinki known as Suomenlinna. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and THE attraction in Helsinki with over 1 million visitors.

The ferry runs from Helsinki's Kauppatori to the beach on the city side of Suomenlinna. HSL ferries from Kauppatori run between Kauppatori and Suomenlinna from morning to evening from 6:00 a.m. to 2:20 a.m. In winter there are departures every 40 - 60 minutes, more frequently in summer.

Today, normal HSL tickets are valid on the Suomenlinna ferry. In connection with the 2019 zone reform, Suomenlinna was placed in the A zone and all tickets in this zone are valid on the ferry.

As with the subway and local trains, bicycles can also be transported on the Suomenlinna ferry. There is a fee for transporting bicycles on the ferry. Suomenlinna is relatively large. If you love your bike, transporting it to the island is definitely recommended. Some of the island has cobblestone paths that can be difficult for a pack mule, but many paths are made of gravel and the journey is a pleasure.

Tip: The ferry is particularly busy in summer. During working days, it is advisable to use the transport ferry 19E to Katajanokka, which leaves from the end of Katajanokka. It can be reached by bike in about 10 minutes. A tram also runs there. The service ferry runs about once an hour on weekdays between 7:25 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
