The slag mill was founded after the Thirty Years' War on the Koser. It was also called "Untercoßer-Mühle", "Mühle am Schlamphaufen" and "Cottenauer Grundmühle". In 1838 the slag mill was in operation as a grinding, cutting and hammer mill. In 1948, 30 tons of flour were ground every year. She also fell victim to the "mill dying".
