The Prince Eugene Equestrian Monument in Vienna is an impressive statue in honour of Prince Eugene of Savoy, one of the most outstanding military commanders of the 18th century. It is located on the Ringstrasse, one of the most magnificent streets in the city, and was inaugurated in 1865. The statue shows Prince Eugene on horseback, in an imposing pose, and symbolises his role as a victor in the decisive battles against the Turks, in particular the Battle of Zenta. The monumental monument is not only a significant symbol of Austrian history, but also an outstanding example of 19th century monumental sculpture.
