The Museum of Contemporary Art (Muzeul de Artă Contemporană) is part of the Brukenthal Museum, housed in a building in the style of the Vienna Secession on Strada Tribunei. Emil Kirscher had the building built in 1901 and ran his "Unicum Café & Restaurant" here. On the upper floor was the Unicum Hall, a popular place for conferences, concerts and celebrations. The city's most modern cinema opened here in 1945. Since 2006, the building has housed the Museum of Contemporary Art, the newest location of the Brukenthal Group.

The Museum of Contemporary Art is located in a historically and architecturally significant building dating from 1901 at Strada Tribunei 6. It has housed a variety of cultural institutions in the past but is being gradually transformed into an exhibition space for contemporary art.

Since 2014, in addition to the temporary exhibitions on the ground floor, the "open depot" on the first and second floors has also been open to the public. The "open depot" is a presentation and storage concept that is still relatively unknown in Romania. The artworks are presented both in typical storage conditions and freely suspended or standing.

Through the window wall of the exhibition space on the second floor, visitors can view the entire exhibition on the first floor below.
