The church was first mentioned in 1230. The early Gothic building was built before 1232 from Feldsteinen, later from bricks. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the church was given a wooden tower, which was built to close the west portal. The entrance is today on the south side. The vestibule of the sacristy was completed in later years.

Between 1990 and 1995, a comprehensive renovation of the church, in which the interior was restored according to ancient representations true to original.
