During a shopping spree through Sendlinger Strasse in Munich, the Asamkirche appears in the midst of the many shops. The richly decorated facade, the magnificent baroque and the filigree rococo interior are impressive. The master builders, the Asam brothers, dedicated it to St. Nepomuk. Therefore the church also bears the name Sankt Johann Nepomuk.

With its magnificent façade, the Asamkirche (St. Johann Nepomuk Church) on Sendlinger Straße is one of the most important buildings of the late Baroque. Originally built by the Asam brothers as a private chapel between 1733-46, the private building soon became open to the public. The magnificent interior of the church changes from relatively dark elements in the lower part in ever brighter tones, the closer you get to the sky.
