The small residential town of Immenstadt has had town charter since around 1360 and is the oldest town in the Upper Allgäu. The "Städtle", as Immenstadt is affectionately known by its residents, with its historic city center, the city palace, the old town hall or the dominant St. Nikolaus church, is located between Alpsee and Iller at the foot of the local mountains Mittag and Immenstädter Horn. Immenstadt is part of the cross-border "Nagelfluhkette Nature Park" and also offers the largest natural lake in the Oberallgäu, the "Großer Alpsee".

A short detour through the tranquil, medieval town of Isny due to the weather.
The very well-preserved town center with town wall, walkable battlements, wall towers, castle, churches and handsome town houses is always worthwhile for an extensive inspection. Unfortunately it was freezing cold, stormy and quite wet, so that we only limited ourselves to the essentials on our tour.
