The Raven Tower, also known locally as the Krappenturm, is a former watchtower and an important part of the well-preserved fortifications of the Spitalvorstadt district. Located between the barns behind the Tanner's House, the Raven Tower is characterized by its horseshoe-shaped floor plan. This architectural design was intended to prevent the tower from being used as a bastion against the city in the event of an enemy capture.

The top floor of the tower once served as a poorhouse, but was destroyed by a fire that tragically claimed the lives of four people. Today, the Raven Tower is no longer open to the public but remains an impressive testament to the historic city fortifications. It recalls its former function as a watchtower and reflects the architecture and strategic considerations of bygone times. The Raven Tower is thus a silent witness to history, reminding visitors of the importance of the fortifications in the past.
