The Susebek rises at Ohlkuhlenmoor in the Hummelsbütteler Moor nature reserve, just south of the Hummelsee.

By crossing under the Poppenbütteler Weg (Ring 3), the Susebek reaches the built-up areas of Hamburg that surround the lower half of its course, which here has a much steeper gradient in a fairly narrow valley than the upper section. It flows through two retention basins, between which it receives its second tributary, the Hummelsbütteler Schulgraben, and finally flows into the Alster in the Teetzpark.
