"The Burgundy grape comes from the French province of Burgundy and is called 'Pinot noir' there. In the past, it was forbidden to export these grapes under threat of the death penalty. An anecdote tells that the Cistercian monks, who were based in Eußerthal, brought the grape to Gräfenhausen hidden in an organ pipe. They belonged to the Cistercian abbey of Citeaux on the Cote d'Or Burgundy."
