The source is named after a co-founder of the Palatine Forest Association, Heinrich Holder.
Heinrich Holder, hiking and climbing friend Grimmeisens and authorized signatory of the company Ullrich won some important Annweiler personalities for the idea of convivial hiking. They formed 1904 the first executive committee of the local group Annweiler of the PWV.
At the Holderquelle there is a pavilion and benches with tables, which are ideal for a picnic or a Schorlepause.

This spring was discovered in 1906 during the construction of the Grimmeisen Trail. In 1913, it was captured and renamed "Holderquelle" in memory of Heinrich Holder (1876-1908). (Information on the information board at the spring.)
Inscription above the current water outlet: "I do not want to perish in the valley, my last gaze constrained by constraint. I would like to die on a mountain, at the golden sunset. - Heinrich Holder, born January 6, 1876, fell on July 24, 1908, with his friend Grimmeisen on the Wetterhorn, founding member of the PWV Annweiler local group. - Erected in 1913, renovated in 1978, 2002, and 2020."

For Ritterstein fans: The Ritterstein "Holderquelle" is the name stone of the original/old Holderquelle from 1913, including the former water outlet, and is therefore easy to miss. It is located to the right of the present-day Holderquelle spring and is one of the more than 300 knight's stones of the Palatinate Forest Association (PWV). However, it is difficult to identify as such, as the "PWV" abbreviation is missing and the inscription is often not golden yellow.

At the source there is a lovingly built pavilion and two tables with benches. Nice view towards Neuscharfeneck and Ramburg. The source was named after Heinrich Holder, a co-founder of the PWV.
