The construction of the Novus Portus dock between 1974 and 1979 made the Nieuwpoort marina the largest in Northern Europe with approximately 2,000 berths. The dock provides space for VVW Nieuwpoort and the Water Sports Circle of the Air Force (WSKLuM). They take care of the management of the marina. Future expansion plans include approximately 700 additional berths, a new bridge with the city center and the realization of a residential waterfront.
