The forest worker Bellmann is said to have fallen from the rocky cliff here when he wanted to throw his wood into the valley. The cliff is very steep, partly with vertical walls leading into the Weißeritztal, 100m below. During the rafting era (until 1875), such exposed places were used to drop ("get rid of") the wood into the valley. This meant that the time-consuming transport of the wood into the valley could be avoided. According to the Dorfhain Book of the Dead from 1792, it is said to have been the 46-year-old cottager and raft log feller J. S. Limbach from Kleinhain who fell there. The name Bellmann appears several times in the area and could therefore have been the owner of the forest and the dropping point.
