On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the House of Wettin, memorials were erected in the Tharandt Forest in 1889. The Wettinplatz in Tharandt was originally shaped like a "W" made of spruce trees, but was reconstructed with yew hedges in 2001.

The Tharandter Wettinplatz was originally laid out in 1889 on the site of the Judeich family's tomb in the form of a spruce hedge that represented a "W". In 2001 the "W" was reconstructed from yew hedges not far from its original location.
