In the 7th century, a chapel was built in Moorsel on the site where the Sint-Martinus church now stands. In this 7th century chapel, Saint Gudula came from Ham, located in the municipality of Herdersem, to pray daily. She died in 712 in Herdersem and around 800 her relic was transferred to Moorsel.
The Sint-Gudula chapel dates from the 14th century and was built in the white sandstone of the region. After the reconstruction in 1597, the chapel remained virtually unchanged until today. The style is late Gothic.
The hexagonal bell tower and the basket-handle arch portal are striking.
In the chapel, there are ten scenes from the life of Saint Gudula and also an 18th century statue of the saint.

This 16th century chapel is located barely 100 meters from the St. Martin's Church.
It stands on the spot where the prayer place of the villa of Saint Gudula was located in the 7th century.
Her bones were venerated for a time in the Women's Monastery founded by her niece, Saint Berlindis (7th century).
After the chapel was rebuilt in 1597, it has remained virtually unchanged to this day.
