The inaccessible Pelinck forest across the stream is accessed by a 295 m stick path that connects a number of slow roads in the area. The boardwalk should allow walking through the swampy forest.
The piece of forest where people are already playing will be made neater and safer. In front of the deep stream comes a sliver of branches that should prevent accidents from happening.
"We are happy that we as a municipality were able to buy this piece of forest (and thanks to the suggestion of a local resident). Buying a bush in the middle of a village center is an opportunity that we couldn't pass up. The combination of the opportunity to play, walk and especially enjoying nature makes it a unique project.
If you are quiet you can spot deer here early in the morning.

This renewed boardwalk was opened in November 2023. This will make the René Mertens walk accessible again for the many walkers. The path starts from the Montillos, the footpath between the Dokkenstraat and the Burgemeester Wambacqstraat.
