Germany was divided for decades. The former "Line of Death" developed into the Green Belt, today an important biotope network and a testimony to historical memory. At the end of 2018, the "Green Belt Thuringia" was placed under protection as a national natural monument and the sponsorship of this protected area was handed over to the Thuringia Nature Conservation Foundation .(…v. information board)
