It was discovered in 1827 and dated to the Bronze Age. In 1875 Gustav Korn from Gera carried out the first excavations on site and quickly found what he was looking for. He uncovers four human skeletons, which are well preserved. They come from three adults and one teenager.

There are also valuable offerings for the dead in the gravesite, which is more than 2,000 years old. In addition to cord-decorated vessels, cups, bowls and a jug, Korn also finds various flint tools and weapons.
