The construction of the rondel took place between 1507 and 1583.
The Wassertormühle was part of the city's extensive mill system.
It was first mentioned in 1357 and is picturesquely located on the Eine.
It was integrated into the city fortifications and was located directly near the rondel.

In the southeast of the historic old town, not far from the one bank, is the Rondell. This building, which was extensively renovated in the 1990s, was once the most heavily fortified defensive structure in the entire Aschersleben city wall. At the time, it was surrounded by a mighty kennel complex and a moat in front of it.
The construction of the Rondell took almost eight decades and took up almost the entire 16th century. The mighty bastion was built on the site of a previous, smaller shell tower. The diameter of the Rondell is around 17 meters and its current height is around 23 meters. The walls of the lower floors are up to four meters thick. The upper floor, in half-timbered construction, was only added to the existing fortress tower in 1846. Today, the listed building is mainly used for cultural events. The "Citizens' Room", which can accommodate up to 50 people, can also be rented for various other purposes. The "Kulturkreis Adam Olearius Aschersleben e.V." has its headquarters in the Rondell.
