The aviator memorial shows a large plaque on a natural stone wall.
It is about 20 m north of the forest path and next to the shooting master's house.
The aviator memorial was erected for six aviators who were killed in the crash of a giant Linke-Hofmann R.I (R14) aircraft on August 19, 1917 near Halberstadt.
They belonged to the giant aircraft division 500 and had taken off from Halberstadt airfield.
At that time, the plane had a wingspan of over 30 m and a takeoff weight of 9,000 kg.(Source: halberstadt.de)
