Locals used to use the Altenberg-Geising and Zinnwald-Geising road connections for long toboggan runs. With the development of winter sports and the corresponding competitions, construction of a bobsleigh track below the Aschergraben began in Geising in 1907/08. The Bobsleigh Club Dresden took over the track in 1910 and extended it to the summit of the Scharspitze (808 m above sea level). The previously wooden curve superelevations were massively built with natural stones, which were lined with snow bricks and iced in winter. Depending on the snow conditions, the track length varied between 1900 m and a maximum of 2200 m. In January 1912 the opening race took place on the demanding track. This bobsleigh run saw the last major championships between 1926 and 1930.
