The funerary chapel built between 1472 and '77 next to the church of S. Maria Maggiore in Bergamo based on a design by Giovanni Antonio Amadeo is the most concrete testimony to the political and 'courtly' ambitions of Bartolomeo Colleoni, a small nobleman from the Bergamo countryside twenty years earlier, after a long military career, he became captain general of the Venetian militias on the mainland.
