To the left of the Poelberg meeting centre, a small staircase leads to this grotto, which is classically built based on the original in Lourdes, France, where Mary is said to have appeared several times in 1858 to the 11-year-old shepherd girl Bernadette van Soubirous.

Lourdes Grotto with walkway of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows, located on the hill of the Poelberg on the south side of the former monastery "De Hoop" with the Poelberg school. Founded in 1938 (date stone in wall) on the initiative of the Sisters of the Faith, more specifically by Sister Clothilde Verstraete, who made available land from the vegetable garden at their monastery for this purpose. Design and implementation by Maurice Neirinck, then alderman of Tielt (signing wall). It is said to have been built with residual material (granite and sandstone) from the Church of Our Lady, the construction of which was completed in the same year (see Station Street). At that time it was known as one of the most beautiful Lourdes caves in the diocese and as the most visited pilgrimage site in Tielt.

Grand Lourdes Grotto, located higher than the street. Hedged park with loose paving, separated from the street by rubble stone walls with an iron fence. Accessible via double staircase in rubble stone and ditto fence pillars. Rock chapel, largely covered by climbing plants, with a narrow niche containing a statue of Our Lady; above, banderole with the inscription "I AM THE IMMACULATE CONCEPT". At the foot, free-standing polychromed statue of Saint Bernadette on rock sculpture.

Corridor consisting of seven open chapels with walls made of granite rubble; use of natural stone for flat cover, niche sill and arch, the latter with painted Roman numbering. Bas-reliefs depicting the Seven Sorrows. Concrete kneelers.
