The Mulle de Terschueren building is a protected monument and was named after the former residents, the Mulle de Terschueren family. In 1824, the Tielt nobleman Emile-Paul Mulle de Terschueren built a copy of his Ghent parental home with accompanying coach house. The 19th century saw a significant increase in imposing mansions in the Ieperstraat, while capital and prestige in the 17th and 18th centuries were concentrated on the Markt and in the Kortrijkstraat.
