The port of Brussels used to reach into the heart of the city, with a swing bridge separating the Schuitendok from the Handelsdok. On the elongated quays near the current Sint-Katelijnekerk there was plenty of trade and activity everywhere. From 1884 to 1995 you could always buy fish at the 'Vismet.'
Nowadays there is no real fish market anymore, but for decades this place has been the Mecca of fish and shellfish restaurants in Brussels.
