At this location you witness how the Vrouwvliet flows into the Beneden-Dijle. The Vrouwvliet rises in Begijnendijk and flows through Baal, Tremelo, Grootlo, Schriek, Keerbergen, Rijmenam, Bonheiden, Muizen Sint-Katelijne-Waver before flowing into the Dijle in Mechelen. Along the way, the stream is given different names, such as Grote Beek, Meerloop, Raambeek, Zwartwaterbeek and Boeimeer. It was not until Pasbrug in Mechelen that she was given the name Vrouwvliet. In total, the loop is about 28 kilometers long. The watercourse has been navigated since prehistoric times. Evidence for this are the prehistoric canoes that were found on the banks. Until the 18th century, this was a noticeably wider river on which boats sailed, usually pulled by ship tractors. But due to the many wars at that time, the canalization and embankment of rivers and the construction of large fish ponds that absorbed a lot of water, the Vrouwvliet has shrunk to the current stream.Information from Wikipedia
