According to tradition, the drinking trough of the "Sins" (now Schulstrasse) has been located here since the 18th century.

The Schinderhannes potions are one of many natural, but meanwhile dried up drinking water sources around the Hahnenbachtal, which were used by the settled Celts here.
Today's water flow is realized by an electric pump.The drying of the springs is a reason for the location of the Schmidtburg only slightly elevated above the valley floor, since the well shafts for the settled there by the Celts forges had not been dug as deep as at the higher Altburg.
