Bilzen station is located on railway line 34 (Hasselt - Liège). Railway line 21C also departs here, a freight railway line to Genk-Goederen station. The first temporary station building was made of wood. The final station building was not built until 1909. For many years, a signal box had been located in the Bilzen station building, which was not only responsible for train traffic in and around Bilzen, but also for that of Tongeren. The busy level crossing on Hasseltsestraat was operated manually from here, which could lead to long waiting times, especially in case of heavy train traffic or technical malfunctions. Despite the division of the NMBS into a transport company and an infrastructure manager in 2005, the Bilzen station staff continued to combine the tasks of Infrabel (signal box) and NMBS (platform supervision and counter service) for more than 10 years, one of the last places in Belgium where this still happened. This arrangement came to an end on 1 January 2015, after which NMBS and Infrabel each deployed their own personnel for another six months. The counter closed definitively on 1 July 2015, after which the station was given the status of an unmanned stopping point for NMBS. The signal box closed its doors on 24 June 2016, after which the activities were taken over by the modern, centralized traffic control center of Hasselt.

Bilzen station is a railway station along railway line 34 (Hasselt - Liège) in the city of Bilzen. Railway line 21C, a freight railway line to Genk-Goederen station, also departs from here.

The first temporary station building was built of wood. The definitive station building was not built until 1909. The long delay had caused excitement among the people of Bilzen for years
