The first wooden church was built outside the settlement on the left bank of the Strėva River. In 1501 and 1502, Prince Alexander Jogailaitis granted an endowment to the church, and in 1506 the vicar gave permission to operate taverns. Until 1511, the Semeliškės Church received tithes from the Žiežmari estate. In 1637, 18 farming families were under the jurisdiction of the pastor.

In 1655, during the war with Russia, the church was burned down. It was rebuilt in 1664. In 1699 it burned down again. It is believed to have been rebuilt in the same year. A wooden shelter was built around 1770. The feast of Saint Rocco has been celebrated since 1772. There has been a parish school since 1777. In 1782 the church was dilapidated but still stood. A new church was built next to the old church in 1783 or 1786 (Translated from Wikipedia).
