II. Station: "Jesus takes his cross upon himself"
Jesus takes the cross upon his shoulders and carries it to the place of execution on Mount Golgotha. Mine relic: "Mountain box"
A square made of sleepers stacked on top of each other, the interior of which was filled with mountains (stones). The mountain boxes were stacked from the lying (floor) to the hanging (ceiling) and formed a "wall" that separates the charred hollow space from the rest of the mine building (e.g. track). Key quote:
"Every work, whether physical or mental, is inevitably associated with effort. This hardship associated with work characterizes the path of human life on earth and represents an announcement of death." [Encyclical Laborem Exercens, 1981] (Sources: panels and kreuzweghaniel.de/station-2/)

III. Station: "First Fall"
Jesus falls for the first time under the weight of the heavy wooden cross Berbgau relic: "Sliding arch extension"
A line extension that offers a high level of stability due to its semicircular shape. The special profile means that the arch is able to give way if the load is too high. The profiles then slide into each other and are not damaged. Key quote:
"Unemployment almost always violates the dignity of those it affects and threatens to throw their lives out of balance." [World Catechism, 1992] (Sources: panels and kreuzweghaniel.de/station-3/)

Rail-bound transport wagon for coal and other bulk goods to be transported in mining. Key quote:
"The life force of the Ruhr region is solidarity... Despite all the required fairness, respect for the inviolable dignity of human beings must always be the determining factor, not only of individual workers, but also of their families, not only of the people of today, but of future generations." [Pope John Paul II, May 2, 1987, Prosper-Haniel mine] (Sources: plaques and kreuzweghaniel.de/station-4/)
