The St. Nicholas Chapel was built in 1524 by Cistercian monks of the Haina Monastery in the center of Bergen. After only two years, the church was profaned in 1526 as part of the Reformation. From 1829 the use as a barn and stable is occupied. In 1984, the city of Frankfurt am Main acquired the Nikolauskapelle in order to restore it. Since its completion in 1994, the building has been used as a venue for secular cultural events.
