The Arboretum, a collection of exotic shrubs, of the former Bokrijk estate is a well-kept and well-maintained complex with plenty of seating for relaxing. A visit to the ponds and the path through a bamboo forest worthwhile.

The Bokrijk arboretum was constructed in the early 1960s. It was a collaboration between several scientific institutions in Limburg (forest biology centre), the political authorities of the province and some enthusiasts.
Initially, the plantings were strictly systematic and arranged according to the taxonomic insights of the time, and the structure was therefore purely scientific. It was not until 1983 that a new vision emerged. An arboretum or botanical garden also had to offer something to the average citizen. From then on, the collection was gradually transformed into a beautiful landscaped garden where it is pleasant to stay. It therefore also became a tourist attraction.
