Hiking
The Land Gate took on its current form in 1666 under King Frederik III.
At 40 meters, the arch is the longest barrel vault in Denmark.
The superstructure was built by Frederik IV in 1750.
The gate was the only official entrance until 1869. When it was closed in the evening, it was no longer possible to enter the city until the next morning.
The Land Gate was protected by the cannons on the Crown Prince's Bastion
and also by the moat, which ran uninterrupted in front of the gate.
