The Schiffertor Bridge was originally part of the fortress and was made of wood with a drawbridge. In 1893, the old wooden bridge was replaced by a bridge with iron girders. In 1976/1977, the modern bridge was built in reinforced concrete and the access to the city was designed in the style of the time. The roundabout above the Schiffertor was completed in 2023.

Hiking
The wooden bridge crosses the moat and connects the entrance from the city to the Stadeum. A beautiful park surrounds it. A small fitness center is available, as well as a parking lot and seating areas. Restaurants and a hotel are also located there.
