Today finally the long planned and often postponed big tour to the water buffalo in Elm. First through Hemmoor, Bornberg and Hechthausen to the Oste. From the old railway bridge, the asphalt of the dike is still new and wonderfully flat. At the ferry in Brobergen we first leave the Oste and drive through the countryside to Elm. Unfortunately also a bit along the country road, for lack of an alternative. Windmill Henriette is a must if you are around. From there on through the fields to the joint project "Landscaping by water buffalo". At first glance just a wonderful heathland, but no water buffalo. Was the tour free? But then we discover six or maybe even seven water buffalo. Imposing animals. We continue to the Elm shipping pier and suddenly two water buffalos, even with a small calf, are right on the way. So the tour was a complete success. Shortly after Hude the path loses itself in a pasture, but we don't give up and we take this obstacle as well.
Now on to Graepel and back home via the ferry.

Motto of the day: exercise in the fresh air is a must! Despite repeated bad weather forecasts, we still got into our hiking boots in the late morning. Lurch counting (fire salamander?) On the mountain: 15 ... always nice at my feet. Up to the Rohnberg only 5 hikers 'on tour'. When we got back to the apartment, I could also see what kind of bus was parked right on the lake next to the swimming pool ... the 'Mobile Vaccination Center'!
