A gem on Bäckerstrasse is the three-story eaves house from 1590 located at house numbers 1-3, which is decorated with 26 differently carved half suns.

Both upper floors protrude clearly into the space of the narrow street. The shell-. and fan rosettes above the carved consoles and the richly decorated half-timbered elements illustrate the wealth of the cloth merchants and garment tailors of the time. The semi-detached houses were only separated in the 19th century - as was house number 33 on Hökerstrasse. Due to the extensive renovations, there are hardly any traces left from the time it was built inside the eaves house at Bäckerstrasse 1-3.

As soon as you crossed the Schiffertorbrücke (from outside), the first street in the old town of Stade was Bäckerstrasse for us. With small water striders between the houses.

This cosy street should actually be called Bäckergasse. It is very narrow and paved with cobblestones. There are ancient, pretty houses here. I wouldn't miss it.
