The Aalschokker is an eel fishing boat - the ship sank in the 1970s in the Ketscher Altrhein - but was raised and restored - today an exhibit of the Mannheim Techno shop.

An unusual relic of fishing history stands on the Mannheim Museumsufer: the eel barge, built around 1900, was once used for eel fishing. The large fishing net was lowered into the current via the striking tall mast, the so-called Schokkerbaum. After the boat sank in the Ketscher Altrhein in 1975, it was salvaged and restored. Since 1998, it has stood on land on the Neckar riverbank and, together with the historic harbor crane, the museum ship, and other exhibits, commemorates Mannheim's close connection to the Rhine, the Neckar, and shipping.
