The Baggemolen was already mentioned in a census of 1683, but must be much older. The strip near the Baggemolen is possibly the earliest inhabited center of Wolvertem due to its altitude and the presence of water-rich sources. The water mill was a ban or forced mill where neighboring farmers were forced to have their grain ground.

The name "Baggemolen" appears as early as 1627, so much earlier than the date stated in the wall and even than the counting date indicated on the information board.

But even before that mill was mentioned as "Baggemolen", it is certain that there was already a water mill here. In 1403, the monastery of Groot-Bijgaarden concluded a lease with "Jan van der Molen, called Bloem".

At the beginning of the 19th century, until 1834, the mill was owned by the well-known German noble family of Italian origin, Thurn & Tassis, whose name we today mainly connect with the site of the same name in Brussels, once the grazing land of the horses that the family employed in their postal business.

Many owners later, August Vareman took over the mill to convert it into a laundry. The man's daughter now lives with her husband, Mr. De Leebeeck, the mill building that was renovated into a family home.
