    Hiking

The picturesquely located building, built in Brabant Gothic, has special Baroque altars, closed oak paneling with built-in communion rails, confessional and pulpit and a Romanesque baptismal font. The stained glass windows are from the 19th and 20th centuries. In the choir there is a painting depicting the stoning of Saint Stephen. The organ was built in 1831 by Antoine Coppin in a Brabant baroque style (roccoco).

    Hiking

Fortunately, the picturesque church of St. Stephanus van Oppem is a protected monument.
It is very likely that it was built in the 9th century as a domain or villa church for surrounding farms. Reports from the bishop of Cambrai from the 12th century confirm this history. The church has undergone several extensions over the centuries. The current form was created in the 17th century by order of the Norbertines of Grimbergen Abbey. The church now radiates in its Brabant Gothic style.
Just enjoy the present in the old church garden.
