At 92 hectares, it is one of the largest botanical gardens in the world.At the heart of the grounds is Bouchout Castle, built in the 19th century.
The greenhouse complex, "Het Plantenpaleis - de Victoriakas" (The Plant Palace - Victoria Greenhouse), is the largest and one of the most beautiful in Europe. The Plant Palace alone covers approximately 1 hectare.The Island Garden is located in the castle pond.
