The Torre Iberdrola is a 165-metre-high skyscraper on the Euskadi Plaza, just north of the centre of Bilbao and close to the Ría de Bilbao. On 19 March 2007, work began on the excavation pit (for five underground floors); work on the superstructure began with the erection of the first 70-metre-high crane on 15 May 2008. The building is scheduled for completion in late 2011. The official inauguration of the Iberdrola Tower took place on 21 February 2012 in the presence of the Spanish King Juan Carlos.
