Brackvenn Moor Ponds

In the area of the Brackvenn near Mützenich there are always wonderfully situated moor lakes, some of which, the so-called Palsas (Palses), are witnesses to the Ice Age.

The Getzbach rises in the high moor of the so-called Brackvenn, in an area around the N 67 Monschau - Eupen, near the German state border at Mützenich and flows into the Wesertalsperre, where it, together with the water of the Hill, flows through a 1.5 km long tunnel is brought up, which forms the Getzbach arm.
The swampy headwaters of the Getzbach with its water-filled palsen is located in the nature reserve with limited access. Since May 2010, the headwaters in northern Brackvenn have been inhabited by numerous beaver families, whose activities in the sense of renaturing the former swamp landscape are causing a backwater of the water that is quite desirable today.
