Pictorial flat carvings and figurative designs on the corner posts adorn the façade of the Raiffeisenhaus, such as a typical basilisk with the head and body of a rooster and the hindquarters of a fish. Even the "breath and gaze" of a basilisk were once thought to have a deadly defensive effect.

More recent man-bracings are formed on the collar and corner posts in the shape of a horse's foot. The parapet panels are filled with flat-carved struts and St. Andrew's crosses. These crossed short struts were considered symbols of good fortune for multiple increase. The Grim Reaper below symbolizes death, and the other small figures on the head angles also derive from Christian symbolism.

Noteworthy are the pictorial representations, such as a frog's face in the garth-joint beam and the figure of a "child-eating man" as an allegory of war on the Berggasse façade, as well as the threshold wreaths with knotted ship's tails and pearl necklace motifs. The frame also features bulging profiles arranged from one fret post to the next.

A total of six buildings in the old town feature half-timbered depictions of figures. For example, at the Raiffeisenhaus, one finds a judge and a wise man, one above the other, surrounded by rich ornamentation.

The historic half-timbered old town of Eschwege shows interesting half-timbered houses with a variety of flat carvings, man figures, angel heads, basilisks and corner figures.

There are hundreds of half-timbered buildings in Eschwege's old town, many of them with interesting and varied carvings. Only a few buildings have figures on the corner posts. One figure at the corner of Kniegasse/Marktplatz, two corner stand figures at the Raiffeisenhaus and two more figures (kings) at Hospitalsplatz 6.
